The Inaugural Conference on Peace and Democracy in Asia-Pacific and the World

고려대 정치외교학과는 창과 80주년을 기념해 오는 9월 26일(금)부터 27일(토)까지 상남정경관 508호 천신일홀에서 국제학술회의 「The Inaugural Conference on Peace and Democracy in Asia-Pacific and the World」를 개최한다.

올해 학술회의의 주제는 'The Climate Challenge: Democracy, Governance, and Global Response'이며, 전 세계에서 제출된 수백 편의 프로포절 중 18편의 논문을 엄선했다. △한국 △아시아 △호주 △미국 △유럽 등 9개국의 학자들이 모여 기후 위기와 민주주의, 거버넌스, 국제 협력에 대한 심도 깊은 논의를 펼칠 예정이다.

학술회의는 △녹색 전환의 정치경제 △국경을 초월한 기후 행동 △환경·에너지에 대한 여론과 엘리트 인식 △기업, FDI와 기후 책임 △지정학과 국제기구의 세션으로 구성된다.

이번 학술회의는 SDG 13(기후 변화의 대응)과 SDG 16(정의, 평화, 효과적인 제도)의 가치와 밀접하게 연결된다.

한편, 지난 3월 케임브리지대 국제 학술지 발표에 따르면 고려대 정치외교학과는 아시아 최상위권 정치학과로 선정된 바 있다. 오는 2026년 1월 9일(금)에는 교우회관 안암홀에서 창립 80주년 기념식을 개최할 예정이다.

Korea University Department of Political Science & International Relations will host the international academic conference, 'The Inaugural Conference on Peace and Democracy in Asia-Pacific and the World,' on September 26 (Fri)–27 (Sat), 2025, at Sangnam Political Science & Economics Building Room 508 to commemorate its 80th anniversary.

This year's conference theme is 'The Climate Challenge: Democracy, Governance, and Global Response.' From hundreds of proposals submitted worldwide, 18 papers were carefully selected. Scholars from nine countries-including Korea, across Asia, Australia, the United States, and Europe-will gather to engage in in-depth discussions on climate change, democracy, governance, and international cooperation.

The conference will feature five sessions: △Political Economy of the Green Transitions △Cross-Border Climate Action △Public Opinion and Elite Beliefs on Environment and Energy △Firms, FDI, and Climate Accountability △Geopolitics and International Organizations.

The conference is closely connected to the values of SDG 13(Climate Action) and SDG 16(Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

Meanwhile, according to a ranking published in March by a Cambridge-based international academic journal, the Korea University Department of Political Science & International Relations was recognized as one of the top political science departments in Asia. In addition, the department will hold its 80th Anniversary Ceremony on January 9 (Fri), 2026, at Alumni Hall.
