2025 고려대학교 지속가능성 문해력 조사 결과
2025년 11월 24일부터 11월 30일까지 진행된 「2025 KU 지속가능성 문해력 조사」에 총 754명이 참여했습니다.본 조사는 고려대학교 구성원의 지속가능성에 대한 인식 수준을 점검하고, 향후 교육·캠퍼스 정책·실천 활동의 방향성을 모색하기 위해 실시됐습니다.
■ 조사 개요 및 문항 구성
본 조사는 기본 문항(Basic ver.)과 심화 문항(Advanced ver.)으로 구성됐습니다.
기본 문항은 ESG 전반에 대한 기초 이해를 확인하는 총 25문항(객관식 23문항, 주관식 2문항)으로 구성됐으며, 심화 문항은 보다 심층적인 이해 수준을 평가하기 위한 총 15문항(객관식)으로 구성됐습니다.
조사는 온라인 방식으로 진행됐으며,
- 기본 문항에는 754명(학생 616명, 교직원 138명)
- 심화 문항에는 330명(학생 282명, 교직원 48명)이 참여했습니다.
이는 전년도 대비 178명 증가한 수치로, 지속가능성에 대한 구성원의 관심이 확대되고 있음을 보여 줍니다.

■ 기본 문항(Basic ver.) 결과
기본 문항 기준 전체 참여자의 평균 점수는 83.55점(100점 만점)이며, 중간값은 86점, 표준편차는 15.56으로 나타났습니다.
기본 문항에서 만점자(100점)는 총 56명으로, 전체의 7.43%를 차지했습니다.
■ 심화 문항(Advanced ver.) 결과
심화 문항에는 총 330명이 참여하였으며, 평균 점수는 43.96점(60점 만점), 중간값은 46점, 표준편차는 11.95로 나타났습니다.
심화 문항에서 만점자(60점)는 총 35명으로, 전체의 10.61%를 차지했습니다.

■ ESG 영역별 분석 결과
기본 문항 기준 ESG 영역별 정답률은
- Social(사회) 영역 87.75%,
- Governance(거버넌스) 86.57%,
- Environment(환경) 79.84% 순으로 나타났습니다.
심화 문항에서는
- Environment 영역 87.58%,
- Social 72.61%,
- Governance 71.92%로 확인됐습니다.
■ 점수 구간별 분포 특징
기본 문항에서는 81~90점 구간에 가장 많은 응답자가 분포했으며, 91~100점 구간에서도 다수의 참여자가 확인됐습니다.
심화 문항의 경우 41~50점, 51~60점 구간에 응답자가 집중되어, 심화 수준의 지속가능성 이해에 도전하고자 하는 구성원의 학습 의지가 드러났습니다.
■ 응답자의 실천 다짐과 제언
주관식 문항 분석 결과, 응답자들은 개인 차원의 실천 과제로
- 쓰레기 배출 최소화 및 분리배출,
- 텀블러 사용 등 일회용품 사용 지양,
- 대중교통 이용 및 친환경 이동수단 활용,
- 에너지 및 자원 절약(불필요한 전력 사용 줄이기 등)
을 가장 많이 언급했습니다.
또한 고려대학교의 지속가능성 강화를 위해
- 지속가능성 관련 교육 및 홍보 캠페인 강화,
- 학생 참여형 활동 및 커뮤니티 활성화,
- 교내 친환경 시설 및 인프라 확충(텀블러 세척기 설치, 분리수거함 개선 등)
에 대한 제언이 다수 제시됐습니다.

2025 KU Sustainability Literacy Survey Results
From November 24 to November 30, 2025, a total of 754 members of Korea University participated in the 2025 KU Sustainability Literacy Survey.
This survey was conducted to assess the level of sustainability awareness among Korea University community members and to inform the direction of future education, campus policies, and practical initiatives.
■ Survey Overview and Questionnaire Design
The survey consisted of a Basic version and an Advanced version.
The Basic version comprised 25 questions (23 multiple-choice questions and 2 open-ended questions) designed to assess fundamental understanding of ESG concepts.
The Advanced version consisted of 15 multiple-choice questions aimed at evaluating a more in-depth level of understanding.
The survey was conducted online, with participation as follows:
- 754 respondents in the Basic version (616 students and 138 faculty and staff)
- 330 respondents in the Advanced version (282 students and 48 faculty and staff)
This represents an increase of 178 participants compared to the previous year, indicating growing interest in sustainability across the university community.
■ Results of the Basic Version
For the Basic version, the overall average score was 83.55 out of 100, with a median score of 86 and a standard deviation of 15.56.
A total of 56 respondents achieved a perfect score of 100, accounting for 7.43% of all participants.
■ Results of the Advanced Version
A total of 330 respondents participated in the Advanced version.
The average score was 43.96 out of 60, with a median score of 46 and a standard deviation of 11.95.
In the Advanced version, 35 respondents achieved a perfect score of 60, representing 10.61% of participants.
■ ESG Domain Analysis
In the Basic version, the correct answer rates by ESG domain were as follows:
- Social: 87.75%
- Governance: 86.57%
- Environment: 79.84%
In the Advanced version, the results were:
- Environment: 87.58%
- Social: 72.61%
- Governance: 71.92%
■ Score Distribution by Range
In the Basic version, the largest proportion of respondents scored in the 81–90 point range, with a substantial number also scoring in the 91–100 point range.
In the Advanced version, responses were concentrated in the 41–50 point and 51–60 point ranges, reflecting a strong willingness among participants to engage with more advanced sustainability concepts.
■ Respondents' Commitments and Suggestions
Analysis of the open-ended responses revealed that participants most frequently identified the following personal actions:
- Reducing waste and practicing proper waste separation
- Avoiding single-use products, such as through the use of reusable tumblers
- Using public transportation and other environmentally friendly modes of mobility
- Conserving energy and resources (e.g., reducing unnecessary electricity use)
In addition, respondents offered the following suggestions to further strengthen sustainability at Korea University:
- Expanding sustainability-related education and awareness campaigns
- Enhancing student-led activities and community engagement
- Expanding eco-friendly campus facilities and infrastructure (e.g., installing tumbler washing stations and improving waste separation facilities)
The KU Institute for Sustainability continues to promote sustainability awareness and practical action under the vision of becoming a "global university leading the realization of a sustainable future."
Based on the valuable insights and thoughtful responses provided by participants, the Institute will continue its efforts to foster a more sustainable campus environment.
